What to do with your Stamps
Anyone wishing to send stamps to SfCM should
note the following:
 | Small amounts of stamps are less valuable than
the cost of postage, therefore, it is advisable to send in packets or
parcels containing many stamps in order to justify the expense
|
 | Stamps need not be washed off the backing
paper but have a higher market value to the dealers if they are
|
 | The time expended on sorting ready for sale is
often less economical than the resultant financial yield and, for this
reason, it helps if sorting can be undertaken prior to SfCM receiving them
|
 | There are, in the main, seven British stamp
categories: |
- Non-regional GB (Great Britain) definitives
- Regional GB definitives
- Non-regional Commemorative issues (large
stamps with pictures etc.,)
- Regional Commemorative issues
- ‘Castle’ stamps (used mainly for parcel
post)
- Christmas issues
- Off-shore (Channel Islands and the Isle of
Man)
 | Stamps can only be accepted for postage if
they have not already gone through the post
|
 | Stamps that have gone through the post but
have missed the franking (cancellation mark) cannot be used for postage and
will be accepted for postage use on the assumption that this condition is
met
|
 | Non-British stamps need not be sorted into
their respective countries |
